Lottery

So much in life, so much in the Universe, so much in God is based on lottery. There is no better example of this for us Human Beings than the lottery that took place when a particular sperm cell joined a particular egg cell to form the beginning of the particular person that we each are. Lots of sperm cells were competing to join with the egg cell, and the matter was decided by a lottery. So congratulations! – each of us is already the winner of the most important lottery of all – the biological/life/conception lottery!

I believe it is time to introduce the concept and principle of lottery to determine who will be our political leaders. For the old system of dictatorship or selection by a majority-rule election does not work well – it has created too much competition and division and disunity and blame and hatred and verbal attack and even physical attack and war. We are witnessing this in many places in the world.

Let the top executive leadership be chosen by lottery to serve one term only in a national executive council of 12 members that will operate by a decision-making process that aims for consensus. And when consensus can’t be reached, then let us aim for the broadest possible majority. But let’s always aim first, and last, for consensus. Majority rule is often defective. Who says the majority is always right and deserves to get its way? History teaches us that sometimes the minority was definitely right.

So let’s aim for consensus and power-sharing as much as we can. And let’s write a letter to the national executive council if we want to share an idea with them.

And don’t worry or be disappointed if you never get chosen in a political lottery. Because you, and all of us, are all winners of the most important and holy lottery – we are all winners of the life/conception lottery! Congratulations! Let’s celebrate and make peace and help each other to really enjoy life!
